Monroe County Legislator Steve Eckel represents the 26th District, which includes parts of Gates, Greece, Irondequoit, and the City of Rochester. Steve was first appointed to the Monroe County Legislature in March of 2005 and then elected to a two-year term in November 2005. He was reelected in 2007 and currently serves as the Ranking Minority Member of the Intergovernmental Relations Committee, as well as a member of the Public Safety Committee.

 

A resident of Rochester's historic Maplewood district, Steve is committed to building vibrant neighborhoods and working with the people of the four municipalities he represents. He works to strengthen citizens' pride in their communities and to become more active in the governance of their towns.

 

Steve is employed by the Rochester Montessori School. He and his wife Bridget Monroe, live on Seneca Parkway in the Maplewood Neighborhood. They have two children, Liam and Ronan.
