Monroe County Legislator Willie Joe Lightfoot represents the 27th District, which includes Rochester's 19th Ward neighborhood, the Greater Rochester International Airport, and Genesee Valley Park. Willie was elected to a two-year term on the Monroe County Legislature in 2005 and reelected in 2007. He currently serves as the Ranking Minority Member of the Public Safety Committee, and is a member of the Human Services Committee. He is the son of the late Honorable Willie Walker Lightfoot who was the 25th District County Legislator for over 20 years.

 

A lifelong resident of the City of Rochester, Willie has had a long history of public service. He is a 12-year Veteran of the United States Air force, serving in Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom. An alumnus of Edison Tech, Willie holds degrees from Monroe Community College and Empire State College. He is a 2005 graduate of the African-American Leadership Development Program and 2007 Graduate of Leadership Rochester. Willie serves as a Center for Dispute Settlement Board Member, and as a member of the Airport Authority board and the Fire Advisory Board . Willie is also an ordained minister and works with the youth at his church, Prayer House Church Of God By Faith, 270 Cumberland Street .

 

Professionally, Willie works for the City of Rochester Fire Department as a Fireman at Engine 7, in his Legislative District. He is also a NYS licensed Barber and a NYS Barber Examiner. He owns and operates New Creations Unisex Salon on Jefferson Avenue.

 

Willie Joe Lightfoot and his wife Verdina live on Trafalgar Street in Rochester's Nineteenth Ward neighborhood with their two children, daughter Precious and son Willie Joe, Jr.
